Para la biología el concepto de nicho tiene que ver con la estrategia de supervivencia que emplea una especie. Es un concepto amplio, alude tanto a la forma de alimentación como al vínculo que se establece con otras especies.
Muchas veces se producen desequilibrios en los ecosistemas. Un caso frecuente tiene que ver con la introducción y propagación de organismos exóticos, lo que implica un desequilibrio en el ecosistema, una disputa, una re-estructuración.
Algo que viene de otro lado se filtra.
